Help! How to read a free ebook

If you purchase a book from a distributer such as Amazon, they automatically load your purchased book to the device you indicate rather painlessly. But what about when you’re given a free digital book? It will probably be offered in two or three formats and you choose the one that will work for you. Typically ebooks come in .mobi, .epub or .pdf. The following links should help in getting your book available to read. You will need a computer (Mac or PC), a tablet or smart phone (Apple ipad, iphone or Android).

Mobi Files

Mobi is the proprietary file type of Amazon for their kindle readers. If you have an ipad or computer you can install the kindle app (download here) and read mobi formatted books within the app. Please note, if you wish to read on your kindle you must use mobi files. A kindle cannot open an epub file. This section only directs you to instructions for reading mobi files.
