JD, a character in a couple of my books, is actually a real person living in Kaneohe, Hawaii and is my online pastor. And yes, he really did change his name to JD, short for Jesus’ Disciple. You can find him on Youtube here. He is a wonderfully honest and humble guy teaching on the entire Bible. He delivers an important message of hope in these days of global unrest and uncertainty. Each week he uploads videos from his Thursday Bible study, the Sunday service and the Prophesy Update to his YouTube channel (link above). All are great and well worth watching.
If you are wondering if you are going to heaven, JD has a good news message for you.
The Good News of Salvation in Jesus Christ
The good news of salvation in Jesus Christ is also known as The Gospel, which means good news, your debt has been paid in full and you’ve been set free. However, in order for the good news to be good, there must also be bad news to make that good news good, thus we need the bad news first. So what’s the bad news? Thankfully, the Bible is not silent concerning both the bad news and the good news.
The Bad News
Romans 3:10 As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one;
Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned-
Romans 6:23a For the wages of sin is death,
John 3:3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
The Good News
Romans 6:23b …but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 10:9-10 …if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
Romans 10:13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
When you fully understand the bad news you’ll want to hear the good news and call on the name of the Lord, confessing with your mouth that “Jesus is Lord,” and believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead. Then, if and when you do this, the Bible promises that you will be saved and have everlasting life.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Here is an example of how you can call on the Lord and accept Jesus Christ’s payment for your sin, which He paid for in full with His death on the cross and His resurrection from the dead:
“Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I believe in my heart that You died for my sins, and I confess with my mouth that you rose again from death. I accept you as my Lord and Savior. Thank You for saving me. Amen.”
Again, this is only an example of how you can call on the Lord and be saved. This is the most important decision you will ever make. When you make this decision, the Holy Spirit will indwell you and empower you to live a Holy life. Then, when He does, you will find that you no longer desire the things of your old life. Instead, you’ll have a desire to read the Bible, which is the Word of God, and you’ll also desire to go to church and fellowship with the people of God, this because you are now born again of the Spirit of God.
If you have accepted Jesus Christ’s payment for your sins and now live with Him as your Lord and Saviour, both JD and I will see you in heaven! Remember no eye has seen, no ear has heard, nor has it entered into the imagination of any human the great things in store for those who belong to Him. Think big because it will be better than that!
